Join Us for the Inaugural Great Ocean Road Clean Up Day 2024!

The Great Ocean Road is celebrated for its breathtaking scenery and captivating wildlife. However, the environmental toll of tourism is undeniable, with littering and pollution threatening our coastal region. In response, we're thrilled to announce a community-driven initiative aimed at tackling these challenges: the Great Ocean Road Clean Up Day.

A Collective Effort for Conservation

In partnership with the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority, we're launching the first-ever Great Ocean Road Clean Up Day. This event is a call to arms for the community, inviting everyone to dedicate a few hours to cleaning up our beloved coastline. Scheduled for midday on Tuesday, 12th March 2024, at Torquay Common, this initiative is more than just a clean-up; it's a celebration of our shared commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the Great Ocean Road.

What to Expect

Prepare for an afternoon filled with camaraderie, action, and the satisfaction of making a tangible difference. We'll provide all the necessary equipment and guidance for a safe and effective clean-up. But that's not all – expect games, prizes, and refreshments as a thank you for your hard work. It's a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the stunning views of Bass Strait and Spring Creek, meet new friends, and contribute to a vital cause.

Why It Matters

The surge in visitor numbers over the summer of 2024 has brought an increased environmental impact, from littering to habitat degradation. Litter not only poses health risks but also endangers our wildlife. With Australia generating 75.6 million tonnes of waste in 2020-21, initiatives like the Great Ocean Road Clean Up Day are critical in fostering a culture of recycling, reusing, and responsible waste management.

Be Part of the Solution

Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in everything we do. We’re especially proud of our innovative rPET souvenir range, which transforms recycled milk bottle caps into beautiful souvenirs, promoting environmental awareness among school children and beyond. Carlo Lowdon, our director, emphasizes the significance of this event: "This is a great opportunity to show your love and appreciation for the Great Ocean Road and its amazing wildlife. By participating in this clean-up, you will help us protect this precious ecosystem for future generations."

How You Can Join

Mark your calendar for 12th March 2024, and join us at Torquay Common at 12:00 pm. Whether you're taking a lunch break or dedicating your day to the cause, your participation will contribute to the preservation of one of Australia's most iconic destinations.

Together, we can make a difference. See you there!
