Recap of the 2025 Great Ocean Road Clean Up Day
Giving Back to the Great Ocean Road
On Sunday, we swapped the office for the outdoors for our second annual Great Ocean Road Clean Up Day - and we’re proud to say this year was even bigger and better!
The sun was out and we enjoyed beautiful weather in the Otway State Forest. With the Bells Beach Easter Pro on hold, it was the perfect time for the community to come together and give back to the place we’re lucky enough to call home.
We joined forces with the amazing crew at the Torquay Rubbish Rangers and were stoked to see so many locals - especially families and kids - getting involved. The energy and commitment from the younger volunteers was especially inspiring. Their efforts reminded us just how important it is to pass on a strong sense of environmental care to the next generation.
Our Managing Director, Carlo Lowdon, summed it up perfectly:
“It felt rewarding picking up rubbish along the Great Ocean Road. Our products are sold in 10 stores along this coastline, so it felt good to give back to the attraction that we make a living from. Our hope is that the Great Ocean Road lasts for a long time so future generations can travel here and see its natural beauty.”
Around 50 people took part in cleaning the stretch from Hurst Road to the Forest Road roundabout, collecting around ten full bags of rubbish. Thanks to the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee, all the rubbish was safely taken to the tip for proper disposal.
We cleaned both sides of the road and ventured into the bush, finding everything from broken-off car parts like polycarbonate light covers and roof racks, to empty bottles and items fallen from trailers. It was a real eye-opener, and showed just how important regular clean-up efforts are for protecting this iconic region.
Thank you so much to everyone who came along and pitched in, we can’t wait for the next one! (If you’re keen to get involved next year, make sure you join the mailing list for updates.)
